Mt. Kailash has the unique distinction of being the world’s most venerated holy place at the same time that it is the least visited. Mount Kailash lies at altitude of 5670m high. This tour start from Kathmandu – this overland tour to the beautiful lake Manasarovar and holy Moun Kailash in remote western Tibet offers views of great natural beauty , insight to Tibetan Buddhist culture and chances to see the real people of Tibet . this trip takes about 15-16 days and favourable season is April to October. The main destination is mount Kailash and lake Manasarovar.
The main destination point (Mt Kailash) is reachable after four days of continuous drive from Kathmandu across the vast Tibetan plateau and the next way is that after a week long “Mount Kailash Trek” from Simikot in western Nepal. After four days of drive we reach to an extremely beautiful turquoise lake with eye catching mount Kailash .For the Hindus, Mt Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva . Lake Manasarovar and Mt Kailash is the famous and religious place for both Hindus and Buddhists. Four great Asian rivers originate from Lake manasarovar – the Indus , Karnali, Bramhaputra and the Sutlej.
Mt Kailash (6741 m) is a wonderful black mountain decorated with four sheer walls and snow capped at the top . It takes about 3 days to reach the 53 km periphery , trail for circumambulation around this holy mountain .The circumambulation starts at Darchen some 30 Km from lake Manasarovar. After the circumambulation we travel back to Kathmandu or head for Lhasa for the extended tour . Along the route we enjoy spectacular views of world’s highest mountains, the nomad sheep herders and enjoy the wonderful beauty of Tibetan desert . During our trip we travel on 4WD jeep and our belongings are carried on truck. There are two different itineraries to travel . The first one offers mt kailash tour from Kathmandu and the second one offers the same from Lhasa.
A great mass of black rock soaring to over 22,000 feet, The weather, always cold, can be unexpectedly treacherous and pilgrims must carry all the supplies they will need for the entire journey.Hindus believe Mt.Kailash to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Like many of the Hindu gods, Shiva is a character of apparent contradictions. yet he is also the divine master of Tantra, Lord Shiva Resides on top of Mount Kailash, where he sits in a state of meditation along with his wife Parvati, the Daughter of Himalaya.It is considered a sacred place in four religions: Bön, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The mountain lies near Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal in Tibet. It is a place of pilgrimage, attracting Hindus from all over the world. Taking a bath in Mansarovar and drinking its water is believed to cleanse all sins committed over a hundred lifetimes.The locals refer to Kailash as Kang Rinpoche, or ‘Precious Snow Mountain’, but we can say that this mountain is precious for many reasons to those of many faiths.The journey begin from kathmandu to Nylam and kora or circumlocution starts at Darchen some 30 Km from lake Manasarovar. After the Kora we drive back to Kathmandu.
